If stress lasted over time, is harmful to the organism in several aspects: psychological, cognitive, physical. For the latter, disorders can affect the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, immune system and thus become seriously associated with health.

In introducing methods and techniques for managing stress, it must be assumed that there are methods for long-term management, which is to say that they become lifestyles, habits that are designed to prevent chronic stress and instantaneous stress management methods, which thus have the function of remedying an individual’s stressful condition over time.

It should also be considered that the goal is not so much to eliminate stress as we have seen how it is a major physiological reaction of the body and is absolutely useful in ensuring its survival and well – being. The goal is therefore to manage stress to prevent an excessive intensity and duration from becoming constant and thus life habits, where the body no longer succeeds in bringing homeostasis back to end, is “getting sick”. The stress clicks, in fact, foresees a change in the state of equilibrium caused by an external agent, the coping process, and then adapting to it in an attempt to bring balance, reaction and therefore tension, exhaustion, and consequent return to a homeostasis situation.

Finally, stress management must be understood as a process and not as a result. What do you mean? We need to learn the dynamic process of management, that is to say, as day by day let’s reduce, relieve stressful situations for us, cut out moments of relaxation and recovery, dedicate the time it takes to catch the symptoms of tension before it is too late and having to run to the shelter at that point. How to say, we must learn to prevent the fire from developing, rather than learning to fire the firefighters and forcing it out with large jets of water.

The natural result will be a state of well-being and psycho-physical balance. As well as adapting to a stressful life that you no longer find out after a while, unless the physicist begins to signal more and more obviously, in the same way you have to rehab to a state of well being that is not relegated at the time of the sauna, the gym or the summer holidays, but it is a lifestyle that accompanies and supports our commitments and efforts of the frantic daily life in which everyone, in spite is navigating.

To summarize the management process we can consider three fundamental moments …

  1. Taking self-awareness, emotions, and stress symptoms;
  2. Suffice to identify the causes (sources) of stress and the times throughout the day when we are more exposed to stress agents;
  3. Learn how to listen to your desires and define methodically the goals we are committed to achieve.

At this point with planning and necessary flexibility we will have to act so that certain old habits will soon be abandoned by putting new patterns of thought and action in line with our well-being (regularly doing physical activity, eating with consciousness, enjoying moments of relax, cultivate friendships, share emotions, etc).
